View your edit history and restore a previous version
Every time you save a simulation, Cesura keeps a snapshot of it. The Version history panel lets you see what changed in each save, who changed it and when, and restore any earlier version — including the very first one, so you can return a simulation to its original settings.
Restoring is safe and non-destructive: it loads an older version into the editor, but nothing is overwritten until you click Save — and your current work is itself kept as a new version. You can never lose where you are now.
Open the version history
- Open the simulation in the editor (in the Library, click Edit on the simulation's card).
- In the action bar at the top, click the clock icon (its tooltip reads Version history).
The panel only appears after a simulation has been saved at least once. It lists every version, newest first, grouped by date (Today, Yesterday, and so on). The current one is marked LATEST.
See what changed in a version
Click any version to open its details. You will see the changes grouped by editor page (General Info, Persona, Scenario, Opening, Feedback Report, and so on), each with Before and After values and a tag — Changed, Added, Deleted, or Reordered. Each version also shows who made it and when. The earliest one shows "Initial version — nothing to compare to."
You can give a version a label for easy reference: click its name and type something like "Final draft".
Restore a previous version (including the original settings)
- Open Version history and select the version you want. To return to how the simulation started, scroll to the bottom of the timeline and pick v1 (the initial version).
- Click Restore this version.
- In the Restore v#? dialog, click Restore.
- That version loads into the editor and a banner appears: "Draft loaded from v#. Save to keep these changes — your draft will be recorded as a new version. Nothing is overwritten until you save."
- Review everything, then click Save to finalize the restore.
When you save, the restore is recorded as a new version marked "restored from v#", so your full history stays intact and nothing is ever lost.
Good to know
- History is automatic — there is nothing to turn on.
- Nothing is ever deleted; every save is kept as its own version.
- To undo recent edits, restore the last version you were happy with. To go all the way back, restore v1.
