Add an image to your simulation
You can add an image to a simulation in three different places, depending on what you want it to do:
- A cover image on the simulation's card in your Library.
- An image the learner sees on a step before the simulation, as part of the briefing.
- An image embedded inside content (briefings, report steps), from the editor toolbar or with Markdown.
1. Add a cover image (the picture on the Library card)
This is the picture shown on the simulation's card in your Library. It is optional.
- Open the simulation in the editor and go to the General Info tab.
- Find the Template Image field and click Select Media.
- In the Select Image dialog, pick one of three tabs:
- Upload — choose an image from your device.
- Gallery — pick one of the ready-made images.
- Create with AI — describe the image you want and generate it.
- If you upload an image, it is cropped to a 16:9 widescreen shape before it is saved. Drag to position the crop, then click Apply Crop.
Create the image with AI
On the Create with AI tab, type what you want under Image Description and click Generate AI Image. Generation can take up to 30 seconds. When you like the result, click Use This Image.
Describe the scene you want to see: who is in it, where they are, and what is happening. Descriptions in any language work, including Hebrew. If the model cannot produce an image, you see “The model couldn’t create an image from this description. Describe the scene you want to see, for example who is in it and where, and try again.” Add concrete detail about the people and the place, then generate again. If the description itself is refused, you see “The image description was blocked by a content filter. Try describing it differently.”
To change it later: click Select Media again. To remove it: click Remove under the image.
2. Add an image the learner sees before the simulation
Use this when you want learners to see a picture as part of the briefing — for example a chart, a document, or a photo that sets the scene.
- Open the Activity steps tab in the simulation editor and work above the Simulation marker.
- Use the add menu and choose Image (a single picture) or Media (an image, video, or audio file).
- Upload the image file. You can reorder it alongside the other opening blocks by dragging.
For an Image block you can also let learners download the picture and choose where the download button appears.
3. Embed an image inside content
In a rich-text editor, such as a briefing or a report step, you can upload an image straight into the text:
- Place the cursor where the image goes, and click Insert image in the toolbar.
- Optional: on the Upload tab, fill in Alt text (optional) to describe the image for learners who use a screen reader.
- Click Choose file and pick a JPEG, PNG, GIF or WebP image up to 10 MB. The image is inserted as soon as it finishes uploading.
To use an image that is already online, open the URL tab instead, paste its address, and click Insert.
In Markdown, you can drop an image inline by pasting a link in this form:

The image will display in place when learners read that content. See Formatting content with Markdown for more.
Accepted formats and size
Images can be PNG, JPG, GIF, or WebP. A cover image can be up to 10 MB, an image step up to 50 MB, and an image uploaded from the rich-text toolbar up to 10 MB.
Images embedded in content do not appear in the learner’s PDF export.
If Image or Media is greyed out in the add menu: these steps require your account to belong to an organization. Ask your administrator to add you, or contact our team.
