Exporting transcripts & reports

Cesura lets you download a participant’s report as a PDF, and export all runs of an activity to Excel for analysis.

Download a single run as a PDF

Open the run’s report page and click Export PDF. The PDF is generated in the language you use Cesura in. It contains these parts, in this order:

  1. The feedback report and scores
  2. The simulation conversation (the transcript), if the creator turned this on
  3. The learner debrief (the write-up after the conversation), if the simulation asks for one and the creator turned this on
  4. The processing conversation (the Feedback Chat), if the creator turned this on

The PDF is text only: images are left out, and links appear as plain text.

Creators choose what goes into the learner’s PDF on the PDF Export page of the simulation editor. The switches follow the same order as the PDF: Include Simulation Chat, Include the learner's debrief, and Include Evaluator Chat. Above them, Learner's PDF will include: summarizes the result. See Controlling what participants see. Instructors always get the full report.

A simulation's purpose can lock the learner’s PDF. With the Exam or Screening purpose, Allow PDF download is off and locked, because the learner doesn’t see the report. Instructors can still export it. See Choose a simulation's purpose.

Want just the transcript?

There isn’t a separate "transcript-only" button. To give learners the transcript without feedback, a creator can turn off the feedback report and turn on Include Simulation Chat on the PDF Export page. The PDF then contains just the conversation.

Export all runs to Excel

To analyse results across participants, open the space, find the activity on the Content tab, open its menu, and choose Export Data. You can pick one of three formats — Simple Table, Coded Forms, or Full Report; for what each contains, see Exporting your data to Excel for research & analysis. Each spreadsheet includes the run details — including any answers participants gave in forms or quizzes — which makes it easy to match results to people (see Identifying and tracking individual participants).
