Getting Started with CESURA

Welcome to CESURA (app.cesura.ai), a SaaS platform for creating and running AI-powered training simulations. This guide will help you navigate the platform, understand its core features, and start creating your first simulation.

Overview

CESURA's Library is your central hub for managing all simulations and learning experiences. Whether you're creating new simulations, reviewing results, or managing team access, the platform provides a streamlined interface to organize your work.

The platform includes several key sections: Library (for simulations), Forms (your questionnaires), History (your own runs), Spaces (where you share simulations with groups and see their results), Testing Spaces, Shared Spaces (spaces shared with you), and administration tools. Each serves a specific purpose in managing your learning content.

Two Approaches to Creating Simulations

CESURA offers two methods for building simulations:

Professor CESURA (Recommended for most users) — An AI assistant that guides you through a structured conversation to create complete simulations. The AI asks clarifying questions about your learning goals, the character involved, and the scenario context, then automatically generates all simulation components including persona, scenario, theory, feedback criteria, and cover image. This approach requires no prompt engineering expertise and is recommended for all users, especially first-time creators.

Manual Creation — Direct access to the simulation editor where you configure every element yourself. This approach is for experienced prompt writers and advanced users who need granular control over specific settings.

Quick Start: Creating Your First Simulation

To create your first simulation using Professor CESURA:

  1. Log in to app.cesura.ai
  2. Navigate to the Library section
  3. Click the New Simulation button
  4. Describe your simulation concept in the chat, or click Approve under the welcome message to begin
  5. Work through Professor CESURA's drafts of the character, scenario, target audience, and learning goals — approve each one, edit it in place, or ask for changes
  6. Click Create simulation and choose the language the simulation is written in
  7. Review the generated simulation in the editor
  8. Make any refinements needed
  9. Publish and test before sharing with learners

A typical creation takes 15-20 minutes from start to finish. Focus on creating single-scenario simulations with depth and clear learning objectives rather than trying to cover multiple scenarios at once.

Understanding the Library

The Library displays your simulations as cards showing the cover image, title, and description. Each card has buttons to Run the simulation, Share it with a group, and Edit it, plus a ⋮ menu with more options: View Report (performance reports from completed sessions), Duplicate, Create Testing Space, and Delete.

You can search for simulations by title or keyword. The platform also allows you to organize your work across different spaces for personal projects and shared spaces for collaborative content.

Organizing Your Work

The sidebar provides access to different sections of the platform:

Library contains all your simulations and learning content. History shows your recently completed simulations and sessions. Forms holds the forms and questionnaires you build. Spaces are workspaces you create and manage, where you share simulations with groups and see their results. Testing Spaces are where you try out simulations before sharing them. Shared Spaces contain content that colleagues have shared with you for collaboration. Organization admins also see Organization Management, which covers users, credits and account settings. At the bottom, Get help opens the Help center and What's new, and Contact support reaches the Cesura team.

Accessing and Managing Simulations

To find a specific simulation, use the search bar to search by title or keyword. You can also use sorting and filtering options to organize results. Once you find a simulation, you can launch it immediately, share it with specific users or via link, or edit it to refine the content.

To edit an existing simulation, navigate to it in the Library and click Edit on its card. The simulation editor opens with its pages grouped into sections: General, Simulation Display (Delivery Mode, the activity steps, the conversation, the Realtime Guide, the debrief, the report and the feedback chat intro, and PDF export), Simulation Instructions (persona, scenario, theory, documents) and Feedback Instructions (criteria and the evaluator). System administrators also see a Technical Definition section.

Best Practices for Getting Started

Start with Professor CESURA—it handles the complexity of prompt engineering and generates complete, professional simulations faster than manual creation. Define your learning goal clearly before starting the conversation. Focus on a single scenario rather than trying to cover multiple situations. Be specific and concrete in your descriptions rather than vague or general.

Review the generated simulation before publishing it. Test it yourself as a learner would experience it. Consider having a colleague review it before sharing with your full audience. Make iterative improvements based on actual usage and feedback.

If you delete a simulation, the action is permanent. Create a backup copy using the Duplicate function if you need to preserve a version before making major changes.

FAQ

How do I find a simulation I recently worked on?

Check the History section in the sidebar to see your recent activity. You can also sort the Library by most recently updated simulations.

Can I see simulations created by others?

Yes. Check Shared Spaces to see content shared with you. You can also search the Library if other users have made simulations available to your organization.

What is the difference between Spaces and Shared Spaces?

Spaces are workspaces you own and manage. Shared Spaces contain content that other team members have shared with you for collaboration.

How do I track my platform credit usage?

If you are an organization admin, open Organization Management in the sidebar and go to Credits to see your balance and consumption. Otherwise, ask your organization admin.

Can I recover a deleted simulation?

No. Deletion is permanent. Use the Duplicate function to create a backup copy before making significant changes to a simulation.
